I have been in the teaching profession for thirteen years at Edward Schreyer School in Beausejour which is a grade 6-12 school within the Sunrise School Division. Education-wise I have my Bachelor of Education., Post-Bac. in Education. and prerequisites for Masters in Counseling and currently working towards my Level One Admin Certificate.
I started working with youths who had social and behaviour issues within the school setting. I spent two years teaching all core subjects at the grade 7 & 8 levels and three years teaching at the highschool level, including grade 11 & 12 pre-calculus, grade 9 math and phys ed. health components. The last five years have been in the Counselor role.
Provincial, Divisional, School and Community Involvement:
- Provincial-Alternate Facilitator for the Future to Discover Project with the Dept. of Education and Youth.
- Divisional-The Achievement, Behaviour and Citizenhip Committee, Convenor for the Highschool Zone 13 Curling Playoffs.
- School-Teacher Advisor for South Interlake Credit Union Student Branch, Highschool Curling Coach, AAA (Aboriginal Academic Acheivement) leader for Edward Schreyer School, Student Groups (TADD, Nat. Helpers/Peer Tutors)
- Community-Hockey Coach (4 years), Lacrosse Coach (2 years), Soccer Coach, President of the Beausejour Curling Club (Past)
I enjoy curling, camping and playing golf. But the loves of my life are my wife Tracey of 11(and a half) years and my two sons; Brayden (7) and Jarvis (4). All of my “spare” time is spent with them.
