March is National Nutrition Month. Celebrate by showing your support to our Breakfast for Learning community fundraising campaign.
Network 4 Change, along with Beausejour Early Years School, developed a universal Breakfast For Learning program for all students grades K-5 that was launched in September 2008.
Now it is time to raise the funds to keep the program going!
For every $1.00 that is raised, 4 children will receive a healthy breakfast that includes 3 of the 4 food groups.
Charitable Tax Receipts can be issued for donations of $10.00 or more when made directly to Network 4 Change. You can contact us at (204) 268-2506.

I am the Director of Human Resources and Finance for the Network 4 Change Corporation, as well as the Case Manager for the Road 2 Success program.
I obtained my Grade 12 Diploma from Kildonan East Collegiate in Winnipeg. Upon completion of my grade 12 I enrolled at South Winnipeg Technical College and became a Pharmacy Technician. After working at various businesses I decided I needed more. I attended Herzing Career College and graduated as an Administrative Assistant.
My Administrative Assistant career began at Royal LePage Real Estate. I worked for RLP until September 11, 2001. From there I moved to Century 21 Advanced Realty and fter five years with Century 21 I felt the urge, again, to move on. I applied for an outreach worker position for the Road 2 Success program. The experience and knowledge I have gained from my previous positions have given me the tools needed to succeed in this job.
I have two amazing boys, Jeffrey was born in 1999 and Mattie (Matthew) was born in 2001. I have been married to Walter since 2000. I am a full time wife and hockey mom, all of which I truly enjoy.
In addition to working full time, I have volunteered on many community organizations: Gillis Play and Learn Daycare Centre, Garson Tyndall Minor Hockey Association and the Garson Communtiy Arena Board.

Hello, my name is Wanda. I am 29 years old and grew up in Whitemouth, Manitoba on a dairy farm.
At the age of 17 I moved to Winnipeg where I worked for Child and Family Services for one year. Following that I moved to Beausejour and met Kevin. Kevin and I have been married for five years. We have a beautiful 2 year old daughter Kaydyn; who is a very happy little girl and brings so much joy into our lives. During my time as a full time mom, I attended Agassiz Adult Ed and obtained my grade 12 diploma. We are currently expecting our second child this fall.
Some of my previous work experience has been working for Association for Community Living (ACL) working with Adults with disabilities in home and work settings, Beausejour Kids Centre working with children in all areas, and a Nanny for a local family.
Currently with Network 4 Change my role is Outreach worker/Early Years Community Liaison.

My name is Lisa and I am an Outreach Worker here at Network 4 Change. I started working here at the beginning of the school year in September 2007. Above and beyond my job at Network 4 Change, I am also a spare School Bus Driver for Sunrise School Division and a family respite worker for Child and Family Services.
I graduated and received my Grade 12 Diploma in 1986 from Sisler High School in Winnipeg. Since then I have had a variety of employment positions. I left my career as a Dental Benefits Processor in December 1992 to have my first daughter Melissa. I chose then not to go back to work and be a full time stay at home mom. Two years later my second daughter Melody was born. Six years following in December 2000, my third daughter Bailey was born. Being a stay at home mom has been both rewarding and challenging. I would not have changed a thing.
In 2004 changes in my family situation brought me back to the work force. I have explored a few opportunities and choices which have led me to where I am today.
I enjoy working with people and helping the students here at Network 4 Change on their journey called life.

Network 4 Change is working with local community parents to develop a before and after school program for school age children. The program will be offered school days only with the possibility of ’special’ kids adventure days for school professional development days.

Transportation to school and from school will be provided (parents must drop off and pick up from program)
Breakfast and snack will be provided with a Kids in the Kitchen component added to the program (Kids help prepare the food)

Tired of making your kids the same old lunches? Is the cost of convenient pre-packaged lunch options breaking the budget? Are you concerned that you kids aren’t getting the nutritional energy boost from their lunch that they need to get through the long school day?
WELL …
Network 4 Change is proud to offer a quick and easy to use tool for parents and caregivers.
Each month a Sensible School Snacks calendar will be sent home with your child from school. The calendar is designed to give parents and kids alternatives to the ordinary bagged lunch, how to make snacks fast and keep them fun, as well as to boost nutrition.
Challenge your family to see how many tips you can use and how many new ideas you can come up with.
If you want to submit any tips or ideas please feel free to contact Jaime Bird at 268-2506; Network 4 Change.

The Sensory Room equipment is tailored towards children with special needs - both physical and cognitive delays. This time and place can give them the opportunity to play safely with their siblings or other community children. Parents are invited to stay to play with their children, share the company of other parents with special needs children and relax in an atmosphere of acceptance and understanding.
The kids can play in a safe and stimulating environment, parents can connect for a coffee and conversation and stories of success can be shared.
Children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or responsible adult careprovider.
Transportation is covered by program funding; Field Trip Costs are the responsibility of individual families.

In April of 2009, twenty local students were part of our first Photovoice Project. During the project students took pictures based on the twelve social determinants of health. One picture stood out, taken by a Grade 9 male student from ESS. Please watch for the final video product this Fall 2009.
Within a project that is trying to allow youth to see their world in new ways and question what is going on around them, this seemed the quintessential picture for the project, as planting the seeds of ideas is what this is all about. When discussing the meaning of the picture, the student said:
“A tree is standing there because a seed found it’s way there”.
Network 4 Change is looking to launch a second Youth Photovoice Project.
Our Photovoice Project is a research study with youth in our community who are typically under-represented or excluded from participating in community planning and development. Youth in two groups participate: one group from grades seven and eight, and another group from grades nine through twelve.
This is a way of documenting community strengths, challenges and needs for our community youth and initiating dialogue about what is significant to them. Quite simply, it is a way of giving voice by using photography.
We are currently gathering the names of interested youth who wish to be part of our next Photovoice project. We are looking for students from grades 7 to 12.
