Cheryl Wong - Executive Director

cheryl-and-dylan.jpgcheryl-baby-001.jpgI was born and raised in Garson Manitoba as Cheryl Boonstra.  I graduated high school from Edward Schreyer School in 1995 even though many doubted this would happen due to my natural tendency to sometimes work against the grain to accomplish tasks in my own way.  Some call this stubborness, I choose to believe it to be persistent creativity.

I then moved on to the University of Manitoba where I tackled my Bachelor of Arts with a solid plan to enter into the faculty of law.  After completing my law entrance exams and a mini-thesis I was placed with the Crown’s Office domestic violence, I decided this was not going to be a fit for me.

It was right around this time that I met Scott, we were married after my third year of university (1998) and had our son Dylan 11 months later (1999).  I finished my Bachelor of Arts (1999) and began working with Winnipeg Child and Family Services as a Emergency Shelter Support Worker and with Manitoba Justice as a contract employee.  I worked primarily with high risk youth both with Winnipeg Child and Family and with Justice as an ISSP Worker.

In  2000 I ventured into working with adult offenders in Sagkeeng, Manitoba and was accepted into the University of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work.  In 2002 I left Winnipeg Child and Family Services and opened a 4 bed Treatment Foster home in Tyndall Manitoba with my Mom, which we kept open until December 2005.

My employment with Manitoba Justice introduced me to the world of our local community resource centers, I began working part time for Mrs. Lucci’s Resource Centre and continued part time with Justice.  My work up in Sagkeeng introduced me to the people of Wing’s of Power in Pine Falls Manitoba where I accepted a full time position working with youth at risk (2003).  I stayed with Wing’s of Power for one year and then moved full time over to Lac du Bonnet (2004) doing the same job only a little closer to home.

In 2005 it finally came together NETWORK 4 CHANGE a Beausejour Community Program soon to be Community Resource Centre … and here we are today.

Today I am married 10 years, our son Dylan has overcome more obstacles than anyone thought possible and continues to be my greatest teacher.  We have added to our home two teenage girls who we foster and who adore our Dylan.   We have found a passion for vacationing as a family and try to experience some place new each year.  I continue to work towards my Bachelor of Social Work with a projected completion date of April 2009.

Network 4 Change is going strong thanks to a dedicated board of directors and a committed and gifted team of staff.

Jaime Bird - Office Administration/Manager

j-n-boys-2.jpgjaime-baby-001.jpgI am the Manager & Administrator for the Network 4 Change Corporation, as well as the Case Manager for the Road 2 Success program.
I obtained my Grade 12 Diploma from Kildonan East Collegiate in Winnipeg.  Upon completion of my grade 12 I enrolled at South Winnipeg Technical College and became a Pharmacy Technician.  After working at various businesses I decided I needed more.  I attended Herzing Career College and graduated as an Administrative Assistant.

My Administrative Assistant career began at Royal LePage Real Estate.  I worked for RLP until September 11, 2001.  I moved to Century 21 Advanced Realty.

After five years with Century 21 I felt the urge to move on.  I applied for an outreach worker position for the Road 2 Success program. The experience and knowledge I have gained from my previous positions have given me the tools needed to succeed in this job.

My son Jeffrey was born in 1999 and I married my husband Walter in 2000.  The following year (2001) my second son Matthew was born.

In addition to working full time here, I am a full time wife and hockey mom.  All of which I truly enjoy.

Wanda Zieske - Early Years Community Liason/Outreach Worker

img_0685.jpgwanda-baby-001.jpgHello, my name is Wanda Zieske.  I am 29 years old and grew up in Whitemouth, Manitoba on a dairy farm.

At the age of 17 I moved to Winnipeg where I worked for Child and Family Services for one year.  Following that I moved to Beausejour and met Kevin.  Kevin and I have been married for five years. We have a beautiful 2 year old daughter Kaydyn; who is a very happy little girl and brings so much joy into our lives.  During my time as a full time mom, I attended Agassiz Adult Ed and obtained my grade 12 diploma.  We are currently expecting our second child this fall.

Some of my previous work experience has been working for Association for Community Living (ACL) working with Adults with disabilities in home and work settings, Beausejour Kids Centre working with children in all areas, and a Nanny for a local family.

Currently with Network 4 Change my role is Outreach worker/Early Years Community Liaison.

Elaine Stefaniuk - Outreach Worker

006.JPGelaine-baby-001.jpgHi there! My name is Elaine and I am an outreach worker with Network 4 Change. I have worked with clients in the Making Connections Program and in the Road To Success Program.

Prior to this season of my working career, I have worked as a Registered Nurse in both a hospital setting and in community nursing. I am married to Curtis (the cutie in the picture!) and we have the privilege of raising 4 children. Matthew, Leah, Courtney and Christopher.

My favorite place to be is at home which is also called Heartland Ranch. Here I wear rubber boots or ropers depending on what the season is! We have cows and chickens and Clem and Violet our goats, a rabbit named Smoky and a donkey named Sarah and my favorites, the horses(too many here to name, but my guy is Pickle!). I have also had the opportunity to home school our children and even other children in our community over the years.

One of the greatest perks of my job with Network 4 Change is that they see the value of some of the dreams myself and my family see in what we have to offer at Heartland. I am able to fulfill some of those dreams in the work I do wearing my Network 4 Change jacket right at home working with people from our community.

Dax Henderson - Outreach Worker

dax-new-003.JPGdax-baby-001.jpgHello my name is Lawrence Dax Henderson.  I am an Outreach Worker here at Network 4 Change.  I have the benefit of working with our program called Road 2 Success.  I have always used my middle moniker as I am the third Lawrence in my family.

I also work part time for Manitoba Justice as an I.S.S.P. worker.  The Intensive Supportive Supervision Program is for at risk teens in the Eastman Area.  I also enjoy working with computers and own a small business, JETS Computer Services, which serves the Eastman Area as well.

I am a father to four beautiful children; Tori, Jordan, Ethan, and Zachary.  We enjoy doing outdoor activities both in the winter and summer seasons.

Amanda Martin - Outreach Worker

mandy-new-001.jpgmandy-baby-001.jpgMy name is Mandy Martin, I am an outreach worker for Network 4 Change (currently on Maternity Leave).  I am looking forward to my return to the office next year.

I am 26 years old my family consists of 3 beautiful little girls, Faith, Hailey, my baby girl Maddison and my fiance Matt.  I grew up in Garson, Manitoba where I own my current home.

After getting my Grade 12 Diploma through Agassiz Adult Ed, I decided to continue my education through Red River College.  I obtained my Para-Educator Certificate in 2007.  I have worked at Gillis Play and Learn Centre and Beausejour Early Years School, however felt that Network 4 Change provided me the opportunity to assist members of our Community.

Lisa Urban - Outreach Worker

038.JPGlisa-baby-001.jpgMy name is Lisa Urban and I am an outreach worker here at Network 4 Change.  I started working here at the beginning of the school year in September 2007.  Above and beyond my job at Network 4 Change, I am also a spare School Bus Driver for Sunrise School Division and a family respite worker for Child and Family Services.

I graduated and received my Grade 12 Diploma in 1986 from Sisler High School in Winnipeg.  Since then I have had a variety of employment positions.  I left my career as a Dental Benefits Processor in December 1992 to have my first daughter Melissa.  I chose then not to go back to work and be a full time stay at home mom.  Two years later my second daughter Melody was born.  Six years following in December 2000, my third daughter Bailey was born.  Being a stay at home mom has been both rewarding and challenging.  I would not have changed a thing.

In 2004 changes in my family situation brought me back to the work force.  I have explored a few opportunities and choices which have led me to where I am today.

I enjoy working with people and helping the students here at Network 4 Change on their journey called life.

Kelly Barrett - Family Outreach Worker

kelly-new-001.jpgkelly-baby-001.jpg Myname is Kelly Barrett and I am the newest staff at Network 4 Change.  I came on board in February of this year.

My family moved to Garson, Manitoba when I was young, I currently reside near by.

I graduated from Edward Schreyer School in 2002.  From there I found my temporary calling as a Child Care Assistant at Gillis Play and Learn Centre in Tyndall, Manitoba.

This year I felt the need to challenge myself and further my career.  I joined the Network 4 Change team as a Family Outreach Worker.  I currently facilitate the Play Pals and Laugh & Learn parent-child programs.

Garth Kroeker - Alternative Learning Program Teacher (Sunrise School Division)

garth-at-the-lake-2.jpggarth-2.jpg After a teaching career of 20 years in Swan River, my wife Donna and I decided we needed to relocate to a community closer to Winnipeg, in order to be nearer to my parents who were in poor health and needing assistance.  While traveling to Pinawa in the spring of 2005 to take part in a community theatre production, I passed through Beausejour, a region of the province I had never been familiar with, and decided this would be a great place to relocate.

Fortunately, a position was available for me with the Sunrise School Division and Donna, a hairstylist, was also able to find suitable employment in Beausejour.  We are both enjoying the community and our work here very much.

This is now my third year teaching senior high students in the ALP and I enjoy my position very much.  The partnership with Network 4 Change has been a very positive move and I believe we are able to make a significant impact on the lives of the students we have the opportunity to work with.
