Summer of 2011, a generous supporter of Network 4 Change has donated a property with 3 buildings to the organization. The now owner of this property, Network 4 Change, needs to renovate the main building to become the new NETWORK 4 CHANGE COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER.
The costs of the renovations are estimated at $170,000.00 of which they already have $60,000.00 pledged by a longtime supporter and donor of Network 4 Change. This leaves the $110,000.00 they are hoping to WIN through the Aviva Community Fund with the help of your VOTES.
The plan is to begin the renovations this winter with the hope to be moved into the new facility by September 1, 2011.

This is a very reasonable timeline given we have already finalized the paperwork and are the legal owners of the property needing to be renovated. They have also been in contact with local contractors to provide them with the projected floor plan (in kind work) and estimates for the proposed renovations.
Moving into the new facility will immediately reduce the financial resources they currently allocate to the organizations overhead costs by the amount of their yearly leasing costs ($22,800.00), money which can then be reallocated directly to increasing community services and supports. Not only will the new facility reduce their overhead budget, but it will also generate much needed revenue when they are able to lease space out to other like-minded community service providers for a very fair cost which will help them as well. The generated revenue will be tagged to support the Network 4 Change H.O.P.E. Project (Helping out Parents Early) which is everything that they do “Early Years”.
We thank the Aviva Community Fund for the opportunity to enter our outstanding organization into such an innovative contest as well as all the supporters who VOTE for our idea. Here’s hoping we are turning the key to the door of their new facility next September

First Round Voting October 3-October 21, 2011

I then moved on to the University of Manitoba where I tackled my Bachelor of Arts with a solid plan to enter into the faculty of law. After completing my law entrance exams and a mini-thesis I was placed with the Crown’s Office domestic violence, I decided this was not going to be a fit for me.

It was right around this time that I met Scott. We were married after my third year of university (1998) and had our son Dylan 11 months later (1999). I finished my Bachelor of Arts (1999) and began working with Winnipeg Child and Family Services as a Emergency Shelter Support Worker and with Manitoba Justice as a contract employee. I worked primarily with high risk youth both with Winnipeg Child and Family and with Justice as an ISSP Worker.

In 2000 I ventured into working with adult offenders in Sagkeeng, Manitoba and was accepted into the University of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work. In 2002 I left Winnipeg Child and Family Services and opened a 4 bed Treatment Foster home in Tyndall Manitoba with my Mom, which we kept open until December 2005.

My employment with Manitoba Justice introduced me to the world of our local community resource centers, I began working part time for Mrs. Lucci’s Resource Centre and continued part time with Justice. My work up in Sagkeeng introduced me to the people of Wing’s of Power in Pine Falls Manitoba where I accepted a full time position working with youth at risk (2003). I stayed with Wing’s of Power for one year and then moved full time over to Lac du Bonnet (2004) doing the same job only a little closer to home.

In 2005 it finally came together NETWORK 4 CHANGE a Beausejour Community Program soon to be Community Resource Centre … and here we are today.

Today I am married 11 years, our son Dylan has overcome more obstacles than anyone thought possible and continues to be my greatest teacher. We have added to our home two teenage girls who we foster and who adore our Dylan. We have found a passion for vacationing as a family and try to experience some place new each year. I continued to work towards my Bachelor of Social Work which I finally accomplished officially as of October 2009.

Network 4 Change is going strong thanks to a dedicated board of directors and a committed and gifted team of staff.

Description of Duties

The Manitoba Breeding Bird Atlas is an ambitious five-year project designed to document the distribution and abundance of all breeding birds throughout the province of Manitoba.

To accomplish this, the province has been divided into nearly 7000 - 10km x 10km squares. The goal is to have each of those squares surveyed for breeding birds over the next 5 years. To make this happen, Atlas organizers are looking for volunteers to fan out over the landscape and spend at least 20 hours identifying birds in each square over the course of the project. It should be noted that the 20 hours for a square could be spent all in one year or spread over the 5 years. The only way to achieve this goal is to attract a huge army of citizen volunteers. You do not have to be a birding expert or guru. All you have to be is confident in the identification of the birds you report.

General atlassers” choose one or more squares to survey for breeding birds. The Regional Coordinator can try to get you assigned to the square of your choice. This level of participation is very important to the atlassing project.

We are working to bring local organizations and event planners that need volunteers together with people from the community who want to volunteer.

If you have some time to give and you are looking for something rewarding, there are always places that could use your help.

Network 4 Change is also looking for organizations to register their Call for Voluneers and community people to register as potential volunteers specifically outlining their areas of interest and availability. With the information from organizations and community members, we can begin matching volunteers with potential placements.

The Comm-Unity Volunteer Network is striving to meet three goals: One, is to make it easier for voluneers to find places where they want to give their time and to open the door for people who have thought of voluneering but weren’t sure where to go. Two, is to gather together the places in our community that need volunteers. The third goal is to highlight and celebrate the commitment of our community volunteers. Many of the great events, services, projects and programs our community offers happen because of volunteers.

Interested organizations and community members are welcome to call Network 4 Change and ask for Deb, Cheryl or Jessica in order to register. Call 268-2506 Monday - Friday.
